Phone calls, send SMS, write an appointment, listen to music no worries. You're doing perfectly fine with basic functions. But the iPhone is much more than that. Meet the most hidden and least obvious parameters of the Apple device.
Each phone is identified by a unique code in the world, composed of 15 to 17 digits : the code IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity). What's the point?
If you lose or if it steals your iphone, send this code to your operator permanently block phone use, regardless of the SIM card. ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card ID) is the serial number of the SIM card.
For codes and ICCID IMEI of your iPhone, go to the screen Settings ? General ? Information.
Block Internet abroad. When you leave France, you can still access the Internet, but the operators charge for data transfer at high prices. To avoid unpleasant surprises, the option data abroad may be disabled.
In this case, when your iPhone is connected to a foreign operator, it blocks all access to the Internet. To achieve this option, go to Settings ? General ? Network.
Set notifications. Some applications may display messages on the screen of the iPhone, even when it is in standby mode.
For example, IM +, an application of instant communication, and makes a sound notification when your contacts want to communicate with you. To enable and configure notifications, go to Settings ? Notifications. You can specify the mode of action of notifications for each application.
This option appears only if you have applications that generate notifications.
Theoretical speed: 2Mb / s for stationary use, 384 Kbps for pedestrian use and 144 Kbps for mobile use. In France and Europe, the 3G standard used s called UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System).
In the near future, it will be replaced by HSDPA (High Speed Downloading Packet Access), called 3G +, for a rate of 8 to 10 Mbps.
The standard 2G is still active in three versions: GSM (voice), GPRS (voice and low data rate) and EDGE (voice and data simultaneously).
The data network is accessible mode EDGE or 3G. EDGE mode is not a problem for mail but for other applications requiring large transfers (video, music, ...) it quickly becomes uncomfortable.
