Thor: Love and Thunder trailer reportedly ready to storm online
On September 12,2024 by Tom RoutleyThor: Love and Thunder's first trailer is ready to storm its way online, according to one of the film's voice actors.
Gaurav Chopra, the Hindi voice actor for the Norse God in his last three Marvel movie appearances, took to his official Instagram account to reveal that the first teaser for Thor 4 is officially done. Posting via Instagram's Stories feature, Chopra revealed that he has now finished his dubbing work for the trailer – confirming that a teaser exists and is almost certain appear before our eyes very soon.
Check out Chopra's Instagram Story post below:
News that Thor: Love and Thunder's first teaser is on the way is sure to delight Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans. With Moon Knight launching on Disney Plus on March 30, Ms Marvel 's trailer and release date being revealed in mid-March, and Doctor Strange 2 's promotional campaign underway, many had been hoping that a Thor 4 trailer would have launched online by now.
Despite the film's release being less than three months away, though, no footage has yet been revealed for the Marvel Phase 4 project. Understandably, fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the supposed delay , even though the film was rumored to have undergone reshoots in recent weeks.
However, with Chopra confirming that he's conducted work on dubbing the trailer for Hindi-speaking audiences, it seems that the first Thor 4 trailer will be with us imminently. Here's hoping so, otherwise another fan-fuelled storm could be heading Marvel Studios' way.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters worldwide on Friday, July 8.
Analysis: when will Thor: Love and Thunder's trailer land online?
Unsurprisingly, fans have been whipped into a frenzy by Chopra's Instagram post, with many taking to a couple of MCU-focused sub-Reddits to express excitement at its impending arrival. If various language dub voice actors have received the trailer to conduct work on it, surely the teaser can't be far off being released?
You would think so. As we mentioned earlier, Marvel Studios has completed press and marketing campaigns for Moon Knight, while Ms Marvel's launch date and trailer have been released. And, while Doctor Strange 2 is the next MCU production on the docket, the forthcoming superhero film is in the final phase of its promotional campaign – i gearing up for press screenings and junkets.
Clearly, then, there's room for Marvel to begin marketing Thor 4. Action figures and promotional art have already made their way online, while apparent internal screenings have also taken place (thanks to Reddit for finding these), so it's high time that a trailer did, too.
Our guess? We suspect that a teaser will be released sometime this week, i April 11 to April 15. With the Easter holidays right around the corner, it would make for an egg-cellent surprise (and we're not sorry for the pun). After all, fans seemed certain that a cryptic Instagram post from star Chris Hemsworth suggested a trailer would finally be with us on April 11 . At the time of writing, though, there's nothing to report on that front.
Whether it's this week or the next (April 17 to April 22), we're crossing our fingers and toes that a Thor: Love and Thunder teaser bolts online very soon. We won't beg you, Marvel, but it would be cool to see some footage all the same.
Netflix 'two thumbs up' rating is just the start of personalization changes
Most of us bingeing Bridgerton, Inventing Anna, or Is it Cake? on Netflix didn't just like these series, we loved them; however, we could express only mild enthusiasm with a thumbs up rating. That's now changed, with Netflix introducing a new 'two thumbs up' rating to signify that you 'love this!'.
Netflix teased the new feature a few weeks back , but now it's live globally on the web, iOS, Android, and on your streaming devices. Plus we finally have more information about how Netflix is using 'love this!', how that rating's algorithmic impact might differ from a mere single thumbs up, and what the future might hold.
In a blog post discussing the change, Netflix Director of Product Innovation Christine Doig-Cardet explained why the streaming behemoth added another rating tier.
"Our current Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons are a good way for you to tell us how you feel about a series or film, and in return, you get a profile that’s better personalized to your taste," Doig-Cardet said. "However, we’ve learned over time that these feelings can go beyond a simple like or dislike. Providing an additional way to tell us when you’re really into something means a profile with recommendations that better reflect what you enjoy."
A single thumbs up rating will still help Netflix tailor recommendations, but a double thumbs-up will help Netflix refine the recommendations even further. "For example," wrote Doig-Cardet, "if you loved Bridgerton, you might see even more shows or films starring the cast, or from Shondaland [the production company of Bridgerton showrunner Shonda Rhimes]."
“This feature," a Netflix spokesperson told TechRadar, "I would liken it to turning up the volume on your dial for a song you really love.”
The 'love this!' rating is not suddenly the predominant viewing preference indicator. It's simply another signal among many to tell Netflix what you really love so they can show you what you really want, noted the spokesperson. So you won't just see the best shows on Netflix but the best for you.
Among the signals Netflix still looks at is how you interact with shows you're watching or not watching. When you use 'Play Something,' for instance, hitting 'Next' as soon as a show starts to play lets Netflix know that you really don't like that content.
The new rating isn't hard to find. Open any Netflix show and you'll see the original thumbs-up rating option. On the desktop, we could hover over that icon to see thumbs down ('not for me'), thumbs up ('I like this'), and the new two thumbs up ('love this!').
The rating options are available on all shows and can be changed at any time, which might encourage you to go back and rerate Squid Game .
It won't save a show
No matter how much you love a series, even using the new two thumbs up rating won't save your favorite Netflix shows.
"No. Ultimately, as you know, our content team is amazing," Netflix told us. "Much of that decision-making is rooted in art and science and instinct and it will remain that way."
But there is a chance of tangential impact if Netflix goes ahead with another idea, which is to use the double thumbs up rating to drive an entire row of "Most loved stuff this week." After all, if you see what everyone else is really loving, then you might decide to watch that over something people simply 'like'.
If part of Netflix's decision-making is rooted in science, and a piece of that science is viewers... well, then it does seem possible that Loving content might someday lead to saving it.
What's next
Netflix's 'love this!' rating option is just the beginning of what could be a year of personalization changes.
"We’re really excited about this," noted the Netflix spokesperson. It's the "first update in five years to the thumb rating system, [and] the first out the gate this year for us."
Which means there's more to come. Netflix's goal is to give members more control over their viewing experience.
"We really want to introduce more personalization features this year," said the Netflix spokesperson. "You’ll see a lot more from us this year in this space."
Great Scott! The Mandalorian season 3 has cast a Back to the Future legend
Spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett season finale follow.
The Mandalorian season 3 cast has landed itself a true sci-fi legend in the form of Christopher Lloyd.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the Back to the Future star has signed on to appear in the Star Wars TV show's next entry. THR reports that Lucasfilm couldn't be contacted for an official comment on Lloyd's supposed casting. But, given the outlet's track record for breaking news surrounding casting announcements, we're fairly certain that Lloyd will feature in one episode at least.
Lloyd needs no introduction to most movie fans, especially those of a sci-fi disposition. The legendary actor is renowned for portraying the eccentric Doctor Emmet Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, as well as playing the villainous Klingon Commander Kruge in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Brown is also known for his Emmy-winning role as Jim Ignatowski in comedy series Taxi, Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Uncle Fester in the 90s-era Addams Family films. In an acting career that's spanned 61 years, Brown has appeared in 110 movies, 80 TV shows, five stage plays (main roles), 10 video games (voice acting roles), and even two music videos.
Lloyd seems to be the latest big name actor to land a guest starring role in The Mandalorian season 3 . Carl Weathers' Greef Karga and Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon are set to reprise their roles in the show's next instalment, while Pedro Pascal will return as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian. Boba Yoda/Grogu will also appear after the duo were reunited in The Book of Boba Fett's season finale .
With 'Mando' acquiring a new ship in the final few episodes of Boba Fett's standalone show, we wonder if Lloyd will bring Doc Brown's DeLorean along for the ride in season 3.
Analysis: who could Lloyd play in The Mandalorian season 3?
There's no word on who Lloyd is playing in the Disney Plus series. However, given the number of guest stars who have appeared as eventual allies of Din Djarin, we wouldn't be surprised if Lloyd follows suit.
We suspect he'll play an original character, too. There have been examples of pre-existing Star Wars characters showing up in The Mandalorian, including Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano , and Bo-Katan Kryze. However, we wouldn't expect Lloyd to portray someone who we've seen (or heard of) in Star Wars' expansive universe. Sure, there are characters he could embody from Star Wars' wide ranging back catalog, but it'll be far more enjoyable if Lloyd plays a wholly original character that he can make his own. After all, this is the actor who made Doc Brown such an iconic cinematic character.
It might not be too long until we learn of Lloyd's official casting and potential role in season 3. The show's latest instalment is currently being filmed in Southern California, but it's not expected that principal photography will last much longer.
According to the September 2021 edition of Production Weekly (thanks to Twitter use Moviebuff1219 for the assist), filming on Mando's third season is due to end on March 23, 2022. Of course, that date may have changed, especially with the pandemic continuing to impact the entertainment industry. Principal photography began in October 2021, so it's possible that production may be drawing to a close.
If that's the case, we hope that Disney and Lucasfilm will announce The Mandalorian season 3's cast like it did with Obi-Wan Kenobi 's all-star line up in March 2021. Regardless, whoever Lloyd is playing, wherever he's going, he won't need roads.
